In a nutshell, Biteslide is the engaging platform for presenting school projects. It has been designed specifically for teachers, students, and the teaching environment. Biteslide is being used by students of all ages around the world.
At the heart of Biteslide are slidebooks. Slidebooks are a creative and fun way to express yourself using text, images, videos and much more.
No you don't - there's a fully functioning free version of Biteslide. You won't need to supply any credit card details to set up the account but it is limited to 1 teacher, 30 students, and 1 project (1 project can have as many slidebooks as you like). If you want to use the product with more teachers, students, or projects then you should upgrade to one of our paid plans.
In short, yes. We understand that the safety and privacy of your students is paramount. Biteslide has been designed from the ground up with the aim of protecting you and your students safety and privacy.
Everything you and your students create is kept in what is known as a 'walled garden'. Only students and teachers that you authorise are able to access the walled garden, and content can only be published to the web with your explicit authorisation.
Bites are images and videos that you put into your slidebooks. Biteslide offers a number of ways to gather bites. You can upload them from your computer, import them from other services e.g. Google Images and YouTube (if you've enabled them for the project), and you can also use the Nibbler to 'nibble' bites from around the web.
Yes they can. Clicking the 'editors' button in the slidebook allows them to add editors by their Biteslide username or email address. To keep things secure, students can only add editors who are in their classes.
Unfortunately our collaboration technology isn't perfected yet - editing the same things simultaneously will cause a problem, but we're working on improving that.
Yes, a modern web browser with Adobe Flash Player version 10 or greater installed (most computers will have this). Biteslide slidebooks do a lot of cool things with photos and videos which can be quite hard work for a computer, so a recent model with a good internet connection will give the best experience.
